Suzi Wong would most likely have been a gifted jazz pianist if techno music hadn’t robbed her of her reason in the middle 1990’s. And so she switched her piano for a mixing board, turntables and a record collection, and now counts among the most sought-after Berlin female DJ’s. Miss Wong was born Miss Giese in 1976 in the Niedersachsen region of Germany and this year celebrates her 12th year as DJ. 12 years of wild Wong parties in the deepest underground such as the legendary Dönerlounge and in the hippest clubs in the capital city: whether E-Werk, WMF, Maria am Ostbahnhof or the good old Globus, Suzi has played them all. Since the reopening of Tresor in spring 2007 Suzi Wong counts among the Batterieraum residents and regularly brings the crowd to a sizzle with her special blend of jackin’ house, techno and electro. Her roots lay in the techno-house “golden years” during the mid-90’s and she remains faithful by astounding clubbers with long forgotten classic pearls that blend perfectly with modern production tracks from her substantial record collection. She also extends her talent beyond the city limits and has toured through Germany with Juan Atkins, Blake Baxter, RJD2 and Andrea Parker, as well as her many gigs at festivals like Sonne, Mond & Sterne, Rock Am Ring, Bread & Butter Barcelona or Art Basel.
Since 2004 Suzi presents her musical spectrum once a week on the Coke DJ-Culture radio show on Jam FM, that she presents together with DJ B.Side. Both present club music without style limits, with interviews, background infos and live guests. Among these have been Afrika Bambaataa, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Bobby Konders, DJ Premier, Westbam or DJ Assault.
Whether on the radio or live on the decks, Suzi’s DJ sets show an innovative music selection with a high energy level, vibrancy and the right feeling for the moment. Fellow DJ Andrea Parker says it perfectly: “You can’t go wrong with Suzi Wong!”
